Box Score 3 Oklahoma City—The Aggies fell in three five-inning contests against Oklahoma Christian in their first Heartland Conference outing of the season. The Eagles ended all three games early, winning by scores of 9-1, 10-0 and 10-1.
Pitcher
Emily Worley took the loss in Friday's first matchup, covering 4.2 innings with 12 hits and six earned runs. OC had five hits, all singles, for five runs in the second inning, and scored four runs in the fifth on a three-run homer and RBI single. The Aggies' lone run came off the bat of
Darcie Wilson who hit her fifth homerun of the season, a solo shot to left field. OC's winning pitcher Madison Hagood went the five-inning distance and threw nine strikeouts with three hits and walked zero batters.
The Eagles brought runners through in all four innings, scoring one run in the first and three in the second off singles and two Aggie errors. A big third inning loaded the bases with singles by the first three OC hitters; a hit batter in the cleanup slot scored the first of five runs that inning. The tenth and final run for the Eagles scored on an RBI single in the fourth. Senior third baseman
Anyssa Barbosa had the only hit for Panhandle, a single in the top of the fifth.
Julia Ibarra pitched all four innings for the Aggies, allowing 12 hits and nine earned runs from the circle. Madison Nordyke earned the win for Oklahoma Christian going five innings with three strikeouts, one hit and one base on balls.
Saturday's series finale switched to an early start due to approaching weather. Ibarra took her fifth loss in two innings on the rubber; with 12 hits and eight earned runs, Ibarra was relieved by sophomore
Criselda Luna. Luna took on the final two innings giving up on hit and three walked batters for one earned run. The Aggies had three hits in the game, including the single by
Brissa Rivera that scored an unearned run on an Eagle error in the fourth. OC totaled four runs in the first, five in the second and one in the third leading pitcher Kaylie Upton to a 4-0 record on the season.
The Aggies now own a 9-16 overall record and sit 0-3 in conference play. Panhandle State Softball will return for a doubleheader at home on Tuesday, March 14. The Aggies take on LSC opponent UT-Permian Basin in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
