Aggies Take Action against Cancer in October

Goodwell, Okla.—In an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer, the OPSU Aggie volleyball and cheer teams are conducting two separate fundraisers throughout the month of October.

Aggie volleyball will host a Pink-Out match against the University of Texas-Permian Basin on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The team is selling pink wristbands for $1 each and will also be selling tickets for a chance to throw a pie in the face of any OPSU coach! Tickets are $2 apiece or three for $5. The winner will be drawn at the Nov. 4 game versus Newman University which starts at 4 p.m.; pie-throwing will take place between sets.

The Aggie cheer team is selling gray t-shirts with a pink logo stating "Aggies Tackle Breast Cancer" for $12 each. They will have a table set up at the remaining two OPSU Aggie football home games on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. In addition to t-shirts, they will also have hand fans available for donations of change to help keep cool during the games.

Both teams will give all proceeds to the Pink Heals-Oklahoma Panhandle Chapter to help support local individuals battling all forms of cancer. For more information or to make a purchase, please contact Head Volleyball Coach Mike Stephens at 580-349-1320 or Cheer Coach Justine Gaskamp at 580-349-1354 or any member of the volleyball and cheer teams.
