OPSU soccer falls at SAGU

DALLAS, Texas – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University soccer teams were both defeated by Southwestern Assemblies of God University at the Mercy Street Soccer Complex. The Aggie women lost, 2-1, in double overtime, while the OPSU men were topped, 1-0.

The women's contest was 1-1 after 90 minutes of regulation. Panhandle State's goal came off the foot of freshman Brooklyn Yawson. It was Yawson's team-leading third goal of the year for the Aggies.

Alyssa Kemp had two shot attempts, both on-goal.

OPSU goalkeeper Mya Szymanski was credited with three saves. The Lions out-shot Panhandle, 8-to-5 overall, for the afternoon.

On the men's side, a penalty kick goal in the first half was all SAGU could muster versus a stubborn Aggie defense. Freshman goalie Hugo Dutour had five saves.

OPSU out-shot the Lions, 10-7 overall. Panhandle had six shots-on-goal, all saved by the Lions. Jesus Sosa took three of the Panhandle shot attempts.
