GOODWELL, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University basketball teams closed out their 2019-20 seasons, each losing to Oklahoma City University at Anchor D Arena. The Aggie women fell to the NAIA No. 1-ranked Stars, 76-49, and the OPSU men were defeated 100-80.
In the women's contest, senior
Lowendie Laporal – playing the final game of her one season with the Aggies – led the team with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Laporal capped he college career by hitting 5-of-9 form the floor, while blocking a shot and making a pair of steals.
OPSU's other senior on the roster –
Nadia Hayes – finished her two-year Aggie career with nine points and four rebounds. She also had a block, a steal and one assist.
Freshman
Shay Audrain also booked nine points. Juniors
Cassia McCaskill and
Naomi Rodriguez each tallied eight points. McCaskill had a team-leading five assists and
Kaylee Morgan made five steals.
DK Sumo IV led all scorers with 27 points in the men's game, but it was not enough as the Aggies went down to defeat. Sumo was 9-of-19 shooting overall, but was especially deft from three-point range where he was 7-for-13. He also had three assists and three steals.
Junior transfer
Daniel Holyfield closed out his first year at OPSU, narrowly missing a double-double, with 11 points and nine rebounds. He also had three steals.
Freshman
Auston Chatman and sophomore transfer
Quentin Fankhouser each finished with 10 points to round out the quarter of Panhandle double-digit scorers. Each also pulled down five rebounds and Chatman had a team-leading four assists.
