CANYON, Texas – Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball opened its season with a pair of losses at NCAA Division II power West Texas A&M University. The Aggies (0-2) fell by scores of 16-0 and 8-0 to the Lady Buffalos (10-0).
Panhandle State had three hits in the first game.
Kaitlyn Lord,
Kinzie Jones and
Brissa Rivera all singled in the contest.
Sarah Conley took the season-opening loss in game one. She struck out one Lady Buff batter in 3.0 innings.
In the second game,
Kenley Yocom kept the Buffs at bay until the third inning, when the hosts plated four runs. Yocom scattered seven hits.
Jordyn Sanford tossed the final 1.1 innings, allowing three hits.
Kayli Grove and Rivera had the Aggie hits in the game.
Panhandle will open Sooner Athletic Conference action this Friday and Saturday, hosting perennial power USAO in a pair of doubleheaders.
