Aggie women lose tough decision; men forge a tie at TWU

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University soccer teams remained on the road Friday, taking on Texas Wesleyan University in a Sooner Athletic Conference twinbill. The Aggies women (1-12, 0-8 SAC) held the Rams scoreless for 51 minutes before suffering a 2-0 loss, while the OPSU men (4-6-4, 2-2-3 SAC) had to settle for a 2-2 double-overtime draw.

In the women's contest, despite playing short one player, Panhandle kept the Lady Rams at bay the majority for the contest. TWU tallied both of its goals in a span of around three minutes (51:28 and 54:31), but were thwarted by the Aggie defenders otherwise, despite out-shooting the visitors 29-2.

OPSU goalkeeper Mya Szymanski had 12 saves.

In the men's nightcap, Panhandle found itself down 1-0 at halftime, after the Rams netted goal in the 36th minute.

In the second half, however, the Aggies came out on fire. In the 70th minute, Allan Gamboa tallied – with an assist to Jesus Sosa – to knot the contest at 1-1.

Then at the 86:22 juncture, it was Richardo Miller finding the back of the net to put OPSU on top, 2-1, with an assist going to Dennis Lippmann.  It looked as though Panhandle would get the "W" in regulation, but with just three tics remaining on the game clock, TWU put in the equalizer to force overtime.

Neither team found a score in the extra periods. OPSU goalkeeper Hugo Dutour had three saves.
