OKMULGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball swept all four games of its non-conference series versus Bacone College over the weekend at the Muscogee Creek Nation Baseball Fields. The Aggies (9-19) won Saturday's doubleheader, 7-0 and 9-0, before sweeping Sunday's twinbill, 5-1 and 12-3.
In the opening two games, as the OPSU pitching tandem of
Sarah Conley and
Kenley Yocom were dominating, spinning back-to-back shutouts. In game one, Conley permitted just two hits and struck out seven.
First baseman
Camryn Pryor had the big bat for the Aggies. Pryor was 2-for-4 with a double and home run, good for three runs batted in.
Kinzie Jones (1-4) also had a double.
In Saturday's second contest, Yocom was equally overpowering in the circle. Yocom allowed four hits and just two Warriors even got into scoring position against her. She struck out eight and walked one.
The big bat belonged to second baseman
Jaylinn Reyes, who went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. She had a double among her hits.
Leftfielder
Kayli Grove put the slug on the ball, as well. Grove went 2-for-4, with a double and home run. Grove drove in two RBI.
Jones (1-4) had a triple as the Aggies' other extra-base hit of the game.
Audrey Sanchez (2-3) and Chrislynn Dovers (2-4) also had multi-hit games. In all, the OPSU team had 14 hits.
In Sunday's first game, neither team got any offense going until the late innings. Panhandle would score two runs each in the fifth and seventh innings, sandwiching a single run in the sixth.
Conley struck out eight and again permitted just two hits, also giving up one run. At the plate, Pryor was 2-for-4, while Jones, Grove and Sanchez all laced doubles.
In game two, Yocom went 3.0 frames of the five inning game (shortened by the run rule). Yocom struck out three and one earned run of her two allowed.
Rebecca Ortiz and
Jordyn Sanford each threw an inning of relief.
The OPSU bats smacked 16 hits, led by Grove and Jones who each were 3-for-4. Each scored a run and Grove had three RBI. Grove had a double and Jones a triple, among their hits.
Reyes and Sanchez each went 2-for-3 as the other players with multiple hits.
In the series, several Aggies posted big composite numbers. Reyes hit .700, going 7-for-10, scoring four times. Sanchez boasted a .556 average (5-9). Grove hit .446, 7-for-5, with three doubles and a home run, good for a team-best six RBI. Jones batted .400 (6-15), scored eight times, with two doubles and two triples.
