WICHITA, Kan. – Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball completed the three-day Friends University Tournament by going 2-4 versus some top-flight competition. The Aggies (2-10) opened with losses to Midland University (7-0) and Oklahoma Wesleyan (18-10) on day one, a win over Hannibal-LaGrange (5-3) and loss to Mount Mercy (10-1) on day two, and another split on day three with a loss to Jamestown (8-0) and tourney finale win over Hastings College (7-4).
Freshman pitcher Kenley Yocum was the pitcher of record for both Aggie victories. In the tourney, Yocum had a 4.20 earned run average, tossed 18.1 innings and struck out 12. She had OPSU's only complete game of the event, as well.
Senior infielder
Jaylinn Reyes led the Panhandle State offense, batting .375 for the tournament. Reyes was 6-for-16 with a double and seven runs batted in.
Fellow seniors
Camryn Pryor and
Kayli Grove both booked identical .316 averages, going 6-for-19 at the plate, with each drawing two walks. Pryor had four doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.
Grove also drove in four runs, while scoring five times. She laced two doubles and a triple among her hits.
Catcher
Kaitlyn Lord drove in four runs, thanks to her two doubles and home run.
The Aggies return to Sooner Athletic Conference play on Tuesday (March 9) at home versus Southwestern Christian University. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. at Aggie Field.
