RV Aggies overpowerd by #4 Drovers

CHICKASHA, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball falls in their first doubleheader against the USAO Drovers.

After setting their sights on the NAIA top-25 the Aggies would have to make their way through the #4 ranked USAO Drovers. The Aggies would keep it close in the first game of the night but a third inning miscue allowed the Drovers to score three. The Aggies struggle at the plate only further hurt their chances of mounting a comeback.

Game two of the twin bill would not see improved results from the Aggies. The Drovers proved their ranking as they got out to an early lead that the Aggies would be unable to overcome. Once again being no-hit by the Drovers.

Game 1

Aggie pitching would be the high point in the Aggies' game one loss to the Drovers. A non-existent offense coupled with defensive errors simply put the Aggies in too deep of a whole.

Sophomore Kenley Yocom would throw a complete game for the Aggies. Yocom would strike out four Drovers and only surrender three hits. All three runs scored by the Drovers would be unearned

The Aggie offense would be without an answer for the number one pitcher in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Managing only two base runners (Kayli Grove) in the seven inning game. The offense would strikeout seventeen times against the Drovers. Only being the third time of the 2022 season that the Aggies failed to score a run and the first time they failed to record a hit.

Game 2

The last game of the double-header would not produce better results for the Aggies. Once again, the Drover would stifle the second best offense in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Junior Sarah Conley would notch the start against the Drovers. After getting a quick two Drover outs Conley would exit due to an apparent injury. Finishing only two-thirds of an inning with a strikeout.

Freshman Rylin Baker would make an early appearance on the weekend for the Aggies. Finishing the remaining four and two-thirds innings. Baker would only allow a single earned run while striking out one in her outing.

The Panhandle State offense would be no-hit once again by the Drovers. The Aggies would strikeout far less in game two but were only able to salvage a single base runner in the contest.

Aggie softball returns to Bill Smith Ballpark Wednesday, March 30th for another night doubleheader starting at 4 PM.
