GOODWELL, Okla-The Aggies softball team started their season on the road in Hobbs, NM, as they faced University of the Southwest Friday afternoon.
Game One
In the first game, the Aggies would score in the top of the second of the 2nd inning. Junior
Bryerly Avina would hit a double, scoring two runners.
The Aggies would score again in the 3rd inning. The Aggies would have the bases loaded, in which Senior
Sarah Conley would hit a single to make the score 3-0. Next play
Bryerly Avina would ground out to third base scoring
Kaitlyn Fanning, going up 4-0.
Starting pitcher was Senior
Sarah Conley pitched seven innings, gave up two hits, and struck out 12.
Game Two
In the afternoon's second game, Aggies would be the team to score the first game run from a triple hit by Junior
Bryerly Avina, scoring Junior Megan Bellar.
The Mustangs would go up 3-1 in the top of the 7th inning. Junior
Kaitlyn Fanning would start with a lead-off walk. Fanning would reach third base from a pop fly to center field.
Sarah Conley would double on the next at-bat. Junior
Bryerly Avina singled to score Fanning, scoring 2-3, and would score on an error making it 3-3, and would go up 4-3 from Nicole Paralta single scoring
Bryerly Avina. The Aggies would hold up in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 4-3.
Aggies will play tomorrow for another double-header against the University of the Southwest, with the first pitch at 1:00 PM(CT).
