GOODWELL, Okla-The Lady Aggies softball team concluded their series with Southwestern Christian University Saturday afternoon. The Aggies would split the Saturday series taking the first game 12-4 and dropping the second game 6-7.
Game One: Senior Sarah Conley pitched for the Aggies winning her ninth game of the season. Conley lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while mowing down eight batters.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Aggies tied the game at one from a wild pitch to score senior Brielee Daniell from third.
The Aggies pulled away from the Eagles, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Daniell would deliver massive with a triple, scoring two runs.
Aggies would score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to run-rule the Eagles; this would be the sixth game the Aggies have run-led their opponent.
Game Two: The Aggies did fall just short of the Eagles in the final match, 6-7, with the Aggies finishing with nine hits and left eight runners on base.
Junior Toni Shawnee started her fifth game of the season. Shawnee allowed four hits and three runs over three innings. Rylin Baker entered the game in relief and pitched two and one-thirds innings allowing two hits and four runs.
Aggies surged in the fourth inning, scoring three runs. Junior Kaitlyn Fanning, Junior Kaycee Torres, and Sophomore Chole Browning all drove in runs in the inning to go up 4-3.
Aggies did try to rally back in the seventh inning, but the Eagles prevented the game tieing runner from scoring at home for the final out.
Aggies will head to McPherson, KS, to face Central Christian College on March 31st first pitch at 3:30 PM.
