Chickasha, OK—The Aggies Softball team wrapped up their 2024 season by competing at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
The #7 seed Aggies faced tough competition, beginning the day against the #2 seed USAO Drovers and concluding with a high-scoring elimination game against the #6 seed Texas Wesleyan University Rams.
In the opening game, the Aggies were overmatched by a strong USAO team, falling 0-8 in a game that saw the Drovers dominate from the start.
The elimination game against Texas Wesleyan proved to be an exciting meeting. The Aggies showed strength and fight, pushing the Rams to the brink in a back-and-forth contest. Oklahoma Panhandle State took an early hit, trailing 1-5 by the third inning, but clawed back with a decisive fourth inning. Key hits included Meagan Bellar's double to right field, driving in two runs, and a pivotal two-RBI double by Kaycee Torres in the fifth inning that leveled the score at 6-6.
The Aggies took an 8-6 lead in the sixth thanks to Kaylynn Du Preez's critical single to right field. However, Texas Wesleyan responded in the bottom half with a double, pushing ahead 9-8, ultimately sealing the victory for the Rams.
