OPSU Celebrates Seniors in Home Finale

GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's soccer team (6-4-5, 2-3-3 SAC) could not put a bow on what had been an undefeated home season in Friday's 1-0 loss to Texas Wesleyan (9-8, 3-5) on Senior Day.

A goal early in the second minute placed in the upper 90 by the Rams was enough to sink the Aggies, as the home team could not capitalize on its few opportunities.

Nine shots were taken by OPSU throughout the match, but only two were on target. Othman Gherab and Calum Murphy were the ones who threatened with shots on goal.

Olai Caicoya and Aron Kanyai split time in between the posts Friday and were both impressive, collecting four and two saves apiece.

Prior to the men's match, the program honored eight seniors who have played a pivotal role for the Aggies in their careers. Soon-to-be graduates honored were Caicoya, Martin Ponce, Hew Brown, Miguel Chavez, Gherab, Ayoup Bader, Zusipheyena Gxarisa and Kanyai.

What's up next: OPSU will look for some outside help or a positive result in its regular season finale Tuesday at Wayland Baptist (6-4-2, 3-2-2) in hopes of securing a spot in the SAC Tournament.
