The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Equestrian Team traveled to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Texas Tech Spring Western Show, where they delivered an outstanding performance. The competition was fierce, with large class sizes, but the OPSU riders rose to the occasion.
"The team placed very well," said Coach Ward. "The hard work and dedication each team member has is showing through in their horsemanship and placings."
The team finished 3rd and 4th in the team placings for the weekend, securing multiple top individual placements across various classes. Mitchell Ullom showcased his skills in the Open Reining division by placing 1st and 4th, while
Eva Johnson put in strong rides, earning 3rd place both days.
In Level 1 Horsemanship,
Katelynn Skinner delivered a commendable performance, securing 2nd place on day one, while
Kayla Johnson stepped up on day two to claim another 2nd place finish.
Nahomy Corral Olivas had a stellar weekend, winning both Rookie A Western Horsemanship classes, which advanced her to the Rookie B division.
Jolina Demann made a remarkable impact in the largest class of the weekend, winning her Beginner Western Horsemanship class on both days. Her dominant performance sealed her spot in the regional finals.
With these impressive results, the OPSU Equestrian Team continues to demonstrate their talent and dedication. Their achievements at TTU highlight the hard work they have put in and set the stage for even more success in the upcoming competitions.
