GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State women's soccer team (2-0-0) welcomed the University of the Southwest (0-5-0) to Anchor D Stadium for its home opener, and the Aggies came away with a 1-0 victory to remain perfect on the season.
An
Emma Daskalov header found the back of the net on perfectly placed corner kick from
Emily Chavez in the 34th minute, which proved good enough in the low-scoring affair.
Daskalov's game winner was her second such goal in as many games to open 2025, and it served as the junior's eighth score in her career.
Chavez was a driving force in OPSU's attack throughout the match, as the midfielder landed two shots on target to pair with her assist. The Aggies doubled up USW in shots on goal during the match, 6-3.
In between the posts,
AlaraLynn Gunderson picked up her second win of the season by posting a clean sheet. The Edgewood, New Mexico, native's shutout marked the fourth of her career.
What's up next: Panhandle State continues its nonconference season on the road Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Kansas City, Missouri, to take on Avila University (1-2-0).
