GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State softball team (5-29, 3-17 SAC) was defeated Saturday at home, 17-0 and 5-1, against No. 9 Science & Arts (29-7, 18-2).
Game 1: The Drovers took advantage of a misplay in the field in the first inning, plating four unearned runs en route to taking a 5-0 lead.
It was all USAO from there, as the nation's ninth-ranked team blasted three homers and put up 17 runs in five innings against the Aggies.
OPSU was no-hit by Drovers' star Aubree Ferguson until the bottom of the fifth, when
Cassidy Stanhope dropped in a base knock with no outs to break up the no-no.
Game 2: Back-to-back singles to open the finale propelled Science & Arts to a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies got on the board in the second frame, when
Kaylee Jund launched her first career collegiate home run over the left-field fence.
That would end up being virtually all the offense OPSU produced on the day, and the Drovers tacked on one run in the third, fourth and seventh innings.
Marin Jacobs pitched her 13th complete game of the season, inducing 12 groundouts and allowing four earned runs.
What's up next: The Aggies look to snap their 15-game slide when they travel to play Texas Wesleyan (17-16, 11-9) for a Thursday-Friday series.
