Aggie competitive cheer shows well in Kansas

SALINA, Kan. It was a busy weekend for the Oklahoma Panhandle State University competitive cheerleading team, as it participated in a total of four separate competitions over the weekend in Kansas.
On Friday, the Aggies placed sixth out of 10 schools at the Bethel College Thresher Invitational. That same say, OPSU was second in the Bethel Triad. On Saturday (Feb. 1), Panhandle's squad was sixth at the Kansas Wesleyan Cheer and Dance Invitational and then lost a dual meet versus McPherson College.
On Friday afternoon, Panhandle State rolled up a score of 57.95, with less than five points separating the Nos. 4-6 places. In their opening competition of the season, the Aggies finished ahead of Friends University, Bethany University, Sterling University and Wayland Baptist University.
In its triangular match up, OPSU was overtaken by Warner University, 72.05 to 44.05. Panhandle did edge out WBU, which finished with 43.05 points.
In Saturday's competition at KWU, OPSU was sixth at 47.7 points, this time with just over two points between fourth and sixth places. The Aggies routine received just a 0.5 point deduction.
In the Coyote Duals later in the day, the Aggies challenged McPherson (which placed third in the cheer competition earlier). Panhandle lost by a score of 64.6 to 51.15 to cap the weekend.
