Aggie Cheer to compete at NAIA Qualifier Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. The Oklahoma Panhandle State University competitive cheer team will be participating in the NAIA National Qualifier competition on Saturday, February 29 (9 a.m.), at Oklahoma City University's Abe Lemons Arena. A total of 12 teams from the six regional qualifying events will advance the 2020 NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships on March 13-14 in Davenport, Iowa.
Panhandle State is in the Southwest Region. Other schools in the region include Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference schools Bethany College, Bethel College, Friends University, Kansas Wesleyan, McPherson College and Sterling College. From the Sooner Athletic Conference will be OPSU, Oklahoma City University and Wayland Baptist University (Texas). Missouri Baptist University, of the American Midwest Conference, rounds out the teams at the Southwest Region competition.
Heading into Saturday's competition, the Aggies are ranked No. 6 in the region. Oklahoma City leads with an average of 81.56, followed by Missouri Baptist University (66.18) and Kansas Wesleyan (65.85) for the top three. The balance of the rankings are, in order: Bethel College (63.19), McPherson College (62.58), Oklahoma Panhandle State (50.21), Friends University (48.29), Wayland Baptist University (47.51), Bethany College (47.47) and Sterling College (45.80).
The eight-person competitive team roster for the Aggies squad will include the following members:
