Men's Basketball: Complete Season Sweep of UNT-Dallas with 15-Blocks
Goodwell,OK- The men's basketball team secured a hard-fought 59-55 victory over UNT-Dallas on Saturday afternoon at Ellis Davis Fieldhouse. The win marked the first time OPSU has swept the Trailblazers in a season and the first conference sweep of any opponent since the 2021-22 season.
In a back-and-forth contest featuring six lead changes, the Aggies (9-14, 7-12 SAC) displayed resilience in the second half, outscoring the Trailblazers (10-12, 7-12 SAC) 31-25 after trailing by two at halftime.
Senior Abdulh Diaby led the charge with a game-high 16 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the field, a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line, and a career-high6blocks.
Amaree Brown followed with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Mike Carter added 10 points and eight boards. Kyle Belgrave II provided a spark off the bench, contributing seven points and six rebounds in 19 minutes.
The Aggies capitalized on their defensive effort, forcing 15 turnovers while holding UNT-Dallas to 41.2% shooting from the field. OPSU also dominated the paint, scoring 30 of their 59 points inside and recording an impressive 15 blocks as a team.
The game remained close until the final moments, with the Aggies extending their lead to seven in the final 24 seconds to seal the win. Strong free-throw shooting (80.0% as a team) proved crucial down the stretch, allowing OPSU to fend off the Trailblazers' late push.
