Aggies Open Season at Cameron University Aggie Duels Meet

GOODWELL, Okla.- The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Cross Country team kicked off their season with a trip to Lawton, which is located in Oklahoma. The Aggie Duals featured competition from both the men's and women's teams.
While the Aggies women came in sixth place out of seven teams, the Aggies men failed not qualify.
Bonita Gray and Justin Duran came in first and second, respectively, for the Aggies.
With a time of 20 minutes and 38 seconds, Bonita Gray finished in 21st place in the women's 5 kilometer race.
After her was Aubree Mora, who finished in 21:48, placing her in 39th place; Clarice Cain, who finished in 21:51, placing her in 40th place; Azucena Carrillo, who finished in 22:18; Abbey Goode, who finished in 24:44, placing her in 62nd place; and Patrice Gray, who finished in 24:55. (64th).
The first competitor in the men's 8-kilometer race was Justin Duran, who finished 13th with a time of 28:09.
The next three finishers were Gus Fields (30:22), Jair Cruz (30:53), and Landry Cobble (33:46). Gus Fields placed 25th, and Jair Cruz and Landry Cobble both placed 27th (36th)
Head CoachNaomi Murrell stated "The Aggie Duels was a great way to kick off our season. As a coach, I was pleasantly surprised by the times. It gave us an opportunity to see our hard work in action and gauge what we need to work on in the next few months".
The next contest for the Aggies is scheduled to take place at New Mexico Highlands University on September 23.
