OPSU Rodeo Teams Compete at Cowboy Stampede in Stillwater, OK

Goodwell, Okla. This past weekend, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's and women's rodeo teams traveled to Stillwater, OK for the Cowboy Stampede Rodeo, hosted by Oklahoma State University. Both teams showcased their skills against tough competition, with the men's team finishing 6th overall.
In the bareback riding, Wyatt Aldrich made a strong showing with a 54-point ride in the long round, securing 6th place heading into the short round. Unfortunately, Aldrich received a no score in the short round after a matchup with a challenging horse.
In the saddle bronc riding, Buster Reis turned in a 63-point ride in the long round, also placing him 6th heading into the short round. Reis returned with an impressive 77-point ride in the short round, earning him 3rd in the average. Cade Bell also competed in the saddle bronc riding, scoring 62 points in the long round, but did not post a score in the short round.
Bell wasn't done yet, appearing in the steer wrestling and team roping events. In steer wrestling, Bell clocked in at 4.6 seconds in the long round, securing the number two spot heading into the short round. However, despite his efforts, he received a no-time in the short round. Bell and his team roping partner, Camree Slavin, turned in a 6.9-second run in the long round, which put them in 4th place heading into the short round. They posted a time of 10.2 seconds in the short round, earning them a split for 5th and 6th in the team roping average.
Matt Doherty had a standout weekend in the tie-down roping. Doherty clocked a 10.0-second run in the long round, earning him 4th place heading into the short round. In the short round, Doherty improved his time to 9.6 seconds, winning the short round and clinching the top spot in the average.
On the women's side, Ryker Goodman delivered a solid performance in goat tying. Goodman's long-round run of 7.6 seconds put her in a split for 9th-11th place heading into the short round. She followed up with another strong run of 8.2 seconds in the short round.
