OPSU Announces New Head Rodeo Coach Ahead of 2025-26 Season

GOODWELL, Okla. Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo announces that Shelbie Rose will take the reins as head coach for the Rodeo Program beginning July 1. Her appointment follows years of dedication and leadership, from her beginning as a student assistant under legendary coach Craig Latham and continuing to Assistant Coach, and Head Women's Rodeo Coach, she has always been a key member of the coaching staff. Rose is the five-time consecutive Central Plains Region Coach of the Year, a rare accomplishment that highlights her exceptional talent and consistency.
Current Head Men's Coach Robert Etbauer a two-time World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider, will stay with the program in the new role of OPSU Rodeo Livestock Manager, where he will oversee the selection, development, and care of the stock that defines OPSU's elite-level training environment.
"I've watched Shelbie grow from a hard-working student and rodeo team member to a confident and capable leader in and out of the arena," Etbauer said. "Her knowledge of the sport and her dedication to the rodeo team and our community make her the best possible choice to guide this program. I'm proud to support her and happy to keep working with her and the rodeo team in this new way."
