Dowd Records Double-Double in Otherwise Tough Showing Versus TWU
December 5, 2025
GOODWELL, Okla. Tryssa Dowd led all players Thursday evening with 15 points and 12 rebounds, but the Oklahoma Panhandle State women's basketball team (1-7, 0-4 SAC) otherwise struggled in a 67-36 defeat to Texas Wesleyan (6-4, 2-2) at home.
Dowd's double-double marked the first of the freshman's career as she also set a new best with her 12 boards. The Amarillo, Texas, native tied for a game-high two blocks as well.
The Aggies hung with the Rams through the first quarter, thanks in large part to a strong defensive effort early. Mar'kia Pratt and Zamari Reece both knocked down three-pointers in the opening frame.
The second period featured more good defense, but OPSU struggled mightily to score as it went into halftime trailing, 32-15.
Heidi Rodriguez capped a decent third quarter offensively for the Aggies with a three-pointer, but the home team could never cut into the deficit despite a relentless night on the glass.
Emily Bray chipped in eight rebounds and La'Tommas Johnson-Nash added six, as Panhandle State closed with 42 boards on the evening.
Rodriguez notched three assists, while Reece, Bray and Johnson-Nash collected two dimes apiece.
Poor shooting plagued OPSU, with the team collectively going 9-for-47 from the field outside of Dowd, who finished her night knocking down six of 13 shots.
What's up next: The Aggies finish their homestand on Saturday at 2 p.m. versus Nelson (7-1, 3-1).
