Womens Basketball Leads Conference with Two on All-Freshman Team
March 3, 2026
OKLAHOMA CITY Freshmen Tryssa Dowd and Mar'kia Pratt were both named to the Sooner Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office as part of its women's basketball postseason awards. Oklahoma Panhandle State led the SAC with two members on the five-player freshman team, as the Aggies posted their highest all-conference achievements in five seasons.
Dowd also earned a spot on the All-SAC Third Team, while Pratt garnered an All-SAC Honorable Mention. The duo became the first two players to average over 10 points per contest for OPSU since the 2021-22 year.
The Aggies were led by Dowd in total scoring (350 points) and scoring average (12.5 points per game) on 42.9% accuracy from the field during the past season. The freshman from Amarillo, Texas, also averaged 6.6 rebounds and over 0.9 blocks per contest to lead the team. Dowd finished her season as one of 17 players in the SAC to average at least 12 points, and her rebounding and blocked shots averages both rank within the top 10 conference-wide.
Dowd's recognition on the third team marks the first time an OPSU women's basketball player has made an All-SAC First, Second or Third Team since 2020-21, when forward Cassia McCaskill garnered Second-Team honors.
For her part, Pratt packed a scoring and playmaking punch the Aggies desperately needed down the stretch of the season. During the year's final 13 contests, Pratt averaged 13.3 points including nine games in double figures in a stretch that featured Panhandle State's three conference wins. She led the Aggies during the year by recording three 20-plus point outings, finishing the season averaging 11.2 points, 2.0 assists and a team-best 1.2 steals per game.
Head coach Maria Belt and the Aggies will look to build on the program's best season across the past four years, as the team hopes to return its young core and add to it moving forward.
