Szymanski Tabbed 2nd-Team All-SAC GK as 2023 Season Wraps Up

Oklahoma Panhandle State University Women's Soccer team, the Aggies, have concluded their 2023 season with a 2-13 (0-9) record. Despite the challenging season, the Aggies demonstrated resilience and strong teamwork throughout their campaign.
The Aggies kicked off their season with a blazing start, winning their first two games in convincing fashion. They secured a commanding 8-0 victory over Randall University, with goals scored by Nila Munoz (2), Briana Alvarez (4), Malory Maltese (1), and Lindsay Church (1). Assisting in these goals were Briana Alvarez (1), Regan Ake (1), Sadie Law (1), Katelyn Fitzgerald (1), and Jamie Wood (1). The other two goals were unassisted. The Aggies continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory over Sterling College, with Faith Cook scoring the one goal.
The rest of the season was a test of their determination, but the Aggies remained competitive in many games thanks to the remarkable efforts of Senior Goalkeeper Mya Szymanski. Mya concluded her senior season with an impressive 91 saves on 152 shots faced, giving her an outstanding save percentage of .664. Mya has been an integral part of the OPSU Women's Soccer team since 2020, and in her four years with the Aggies, she has accumulated a total of 346 saves in the Aggie jersey. Last year she led the league in saves. This year Mya Szymanski's contributions were recognized as she was named to the 2nd Team All-SAC Goalkeepers for 2023, a fitting honor to cap off her memorable Aggie career.
The Aggies also bid farewell to other invaluable seniors who have played a pivotal role in the program. Nila Munoz, Regan Ake, Faith Cook, and Rebecca Herriotts, all have made significant contributions to the team over the years and leave a lasting legacy.
