Dr. LaCreta Bowen,DAT, LAT, ATC

Dr. Bowen was named the Aggies' Head Athletic Trainer in June 2024, bringing with her nearly 10 years of athletic training experience at the collegiate and high school levels. In the spring of 2025, she was voted the campus-wide Employee of the Semester by the OPSU Staff Association.

Originally from Silo, Oklahoma, Dr. Bowen graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. She went on to complete her Master's in Athletic Training at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2014. In 2021, Dr. Bowen completed a Doctorate in Athletic Training with a focus in Educational Leadership and Sports Rehabilitation from A.T. Still University of Health Science.

Dr. Bowen's inspiration to become an athletic trainer is rooted in her experiences and background. Growing up in a family of teachers and coaches, she always aspired to be involved in the school system. The turning point came in high school when an athletic trainer spoke to her biology class, shedding light on a career that would blend her interests in the medical field and education while excelling in a field that Oklahoma has seen a shortage of in recent years.

In addition to leading the athletic training staff for Panhandle State, Dr. Bowen is a health and physical education instructor for the University.

Prior to joining OPSU, Dr. Bowen was a Site Athletic Trainer for Oklahoma City Public Schools from 2021-2024, a Tactical Athletic Trainer for Federal Staffing Resources from 2019-2021, the Head Athletic Trainer for the San Diego, Texas, ISD from 2015-2017 and from 2018-2019, and an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Northwestern Oklahoma State University from 2017-2018.Â
