Rangers Top Aggies in Three Sets

Box Score Alva, Okla.—Northwestern Oklahoma State University (3-15) volleyball gained its first home victory of the season Tuesday evening over the OPSU Aggies (3-16), winning in three straight sets (25-13, 25-19, 27-25).

The Aggies failed to gain control of the lead in the first set and the team struggled with the serve on both sides of the net; OPSU had three service errors and were shut down by the Rangers who gained five aces in the first set. Set two saw more of the same as Northwestern continued to dominate on the serve bringing in another five aces. In set three the Aggies fought through 15 score-ties and three lead changes with a chance to take a win, but the Rangers finished with two kills grabbing their third victory and piling up an impressive 12 service aces in three sets.

Brittany Dubberstein led the Aggies in kills, taking down nine for 9.5 points. Setter Skylar Mayeux contributed with 22 assists, seven digs, and one service ace; libero Nicole Fournier brought in five digs and Sarah Koster tallied one solo block and two block assists.

This team is resilient and will be ready to take on two conference match-ups this week in the Oscar Williams Field House, starting with their "Pink Out" game against Dallas Baptist (8-11) Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. They will play the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Noon. Both games will feature live video streaming available on the OPSU Aggie Athletics website.
