St. Edward's Baseball Gets Series Sweep

Austin, Texas—St. Edward's University completed their 3-game series sweep of the Oklahoma Panhandle State University baseball team on Saturday, earning a 7-2 win.

The pitchers battled it out through four and one half innings, with neither one giving up a single hit. The Hilltoppers got on the scoreboard first with a solo homerun in the fourth and went on to score four runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth to take a 7-0 lead. In the top of the ninth, Dominic DeJoseph singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Robert Montoya walked and Casey Kettler singled up the middle to load the bases. Ruben Aguirre hit a double to right field that scored Montoya and DeJoseph for the only OPSU runs. Kettler was 2-4 at the plate on the day and first baseman Nick Crosswhite had 11 putouts. Starting pitcher Nolan Glasscock scattered five hits and struck out two in six innings of work and was given the loss.

The Aggies return home for a single game on May 1 against Oklahoma Christian University and the first pitch is set for noon. They conclude their season May 3-4 in Odessa, Texas with a 3-game series against the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
