Volleyball Falls to Lubbock Christian

Box Score Goodwell, Okla.—The Oscar Williams Field House saw action Thursday evening as the OPSU Aggie volleyball team took on new Heartland Conference member Lubbock Christian University in a three-set match.

The Aggies started the first set with a kill by senior hitter Jessica DeBaun and stayed within two points for the first half of the set. LCU gained momentum when libero Christa Daniel took the server's position and the Lady Chaps banged in four kills in a row to go up 15-9. The set ended with another serve from Daniel which resulted in a set error for the Aggies; final score was 16-25.

Junior hitter Sarah Koster took the first kill for the Aggies in the second set which tied them up at 2-2, but the Lady Chaps went on another scoring spree when setter Erin Fisher came up to serve for another four straight points. The Aggies fought back and brought the set within five points two separate times but came out with a 19-25 loss.

Lubbock Christian led the entire third set with Daniel once again starting scoring drives while up to serve. The Aggies answered with kills by sophomore Makayla Barrett, junior Brittany Dubberstein, and senior Missy Marshall; however, they could not escape from errors and the set ended with another loss 15-25.  

Leading the Aggies in scoring was junior Sarah Koster with 7.5 total points. Koster also contributed the most kills and digs with a total of six and five respectively. Freshman Skylar Mayeux led in assists with 15, and Missy Marshall and Koster helped out with a combined five block assists. Nicole Fournier and Kayla Schwartz shared the libero duties with Fournier starting in the first set and Schwartz finishing out sets two and three.
