Box Score Austin, Texas—The Oklahoma Panhandle State University volleyball team returned home Saturday evening after a three-game road tour in Texas.
The Aggies started in Abilene, Texas with an inter-conference match-up against McMurry University on Thursday, Sept. 26 where they played hard but fell short in a three-set loss (20-25, 20-25, 18-25) leaving McMurry undefeated in conference play.
Austin was the team's next stop with two games scheduled in the capitol city; starting with a re-match from the Aggies Challenge Tournament earlier in the month against NAIA team Huston-Tillotson University on Friday, Sept. 27. The Aggies got off to a slow start losing the first set 18-25, but the ladies of the Panhandle would rally for three straight sets to come out with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Rams. (25-19, 25-20, 25-17). The Aggies stayed in town for another Heartland Conference match-up, going up against St. Edward's University on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Hilltoppers made it a quick day for the Aggies sweeping them in three sets (13-25, 14-25, 15-25); the Aggies are currently 0-6 in conference play.
Several Aggies were able to shine on the road putting in hard work against some tough opponents.
Skylar Mayeux continues to lead the team in assists bringing home 78 assists from three games.
Sarah Koster and
Shaina Eddings led in scoring for the week averaging 10.6 and 9.8 points per game respectively and bringing down a combined 52 kills. The libero position saw three different players in rotation:
Nicole Fournier,
Kayla Schwartz, and
Terra Madden who combined for 34 total digs.
The Aggies look to improve on their 3-10 overall record during two straight weeks of home court action. This week they will take on two Heartland teams starting with third-ranked St. Mary's University (6-7) on Thursday, Oct. 3 followed by Texas A&M International (1-12) who will be also looking for their first conference win on Friday, Oct. 4. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. in the Oscar Williams Field House.
