Box Score Goodwell, Okla.—The Aggie women's basketball team fell short of victory despite the 31 points put up by senior point guard
Sarah Johnson; the Aggies took an 87-73 loss to Rogers State University Saturday afternoon.
The Hillcats maintained a narrow lead throughout the first half and went into the locker room up by three at halftime (42-39). Three Aggies were already in double digits after twenty minutes of play;
Hannah Tatum had 12 points and
Sarah Johnson and
Sharice Papaleo each scored 11.
The Aggies took the lead early in the second half, but the Hillcats marked 13 straight points after back-to-back fouls by OPSU and Rogers State controlled the game from that point on. Rogers' senior Katy Harsen had a career game finishing with 33 points and helped the Hillcats earn their second Heartland Conference win.
Johnsons scored over thirty points for the second consecutive game shooting 50 percent from the field, landing two 3-pointers, and going 13-17 from the free-throw line; she also contributed five assists. Papaleo earned her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Meagan Bell finished with 10 points, nine of which came from beyond the arc. Tatum totaled 12 points and brought down eight rebounds.
The Aggie women fall to 1-14 overall and 1-8 in conference play. The women will be on the road this week as they travel to Oklahoma City Jan. 16 to take on Oklahoma Christian University at 5:30 p.m.
