Great Road Play by Aggie Women doesn’t Stop Lady Eagles

Box Score Oklahoma City, Okla.—The Aggie women put up their "best performance on the road" thus far against Oklahoma Christian on Thursday evening, according to assistant coach Matt Creamer, but the Lady Eagles came out on top with a 86-71 victory on their home court.

Once again Aggie senior Sarah Johnson led the team bringing in 22 points and seven assists. Johnson contributed defensively as well grabbing two seals and two rebounds.

The Aggies took a 17-15 lead at the ten-minute mark of the first half. However, OC went on to score twelve unanswered points in less than two minutes gaining an eight-point advantage over OPSU. The Lady Eagles maintained a healthy lead from that point on besting the Aggies by fifteen in the end.

Johnson kept the Lady Eagles on their toes during her 34 minutes on the court shooting 40 percent from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the line.

Junior forward Hannah Tatum totaled a season-high 20 points and fell just shy of earning a double-double with eight rebounds. Tatum shot 54 percent from the field and 75 percent from the line.

Sharice Papaleo also brought down eight rebounds and contributed three blocks defensively, while Brittany Alavinejad contributed three steals to the Aggies' efforts. Papaleo and Alavinejad finished with eight and nine points respectively.

Coach Creamer stated, "If we keep playing the way we did Thursday, we will have a good chance of winning the games ahead of us."

The Aggie women drop to 1-15 overall and 1-9 in the Heartland Conference. Their next game will be at home Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. against the University of Texas-Permian Basin; another conference match-up.
