Goodwell, Okla.—The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie football team will be put to the test this week against the 3-3 Bacone College Warriors. For the past two years, the Warriors have had success against the Aggies at their own field; however, the Warriors will have to come to Carl Wooten Field and face the Aggie Nation. The game will be this Saturday, October 18, at 2 p.m.
The Aggies and Warriors have a lot in common this year in that both teams have "pass attack" offenses and "turnover causing" defenses. Bacone wide receiver David Chapman will be the man to watch for the Aggies as he unanimously leads the team in receiving with a total of 509 yards and six touchdowns. The Bacone defense has caused 15 interceptions and three touchdowns.
On the other hand, the Aggies have multiple weapons on offense. Wide receivers
Devyn Williams and
Zacari Lavender have contributed to a total of 677 yards receiving from the arm of quarterback
Caleb Holbrook, who has thrown for a total of 1,651 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. The difference maker will weigh in on the ability to run the ball. OPSU running back
Chris McClendon could be a game changing factor by leading the team in rushing with a total of 806 yards and six touchdowns. The Aggies currently rank fifth offensively (nationwide) and tenth defensively.
Chris McClendon currently ranks tenth in overall rushing.
The game will not be charging admission so EVERYBODY is encouraged to come! There will be a halftime recognition of former OPSU football player and alum Kenneth Aaron who played center for the Aggies from 1953-1956; Aaron and his family will be in attendance. WEAR RED! GET ROWDY! REV IT UP!
