Aggies Prepare for Langston

Goodwell, Okla.—Pack the trunks and get ready for a road trip Aggie fans! The (6-2) Oklahoma Panhandle State football team is getting ready for battle against the Langston University Lions this Saturday, Nov. 1. The game will be held at 2 p.m. at W.E. Anderson Stadium in Langston, Okla.

For the past two years, this matchup has been tough for the Aggies having lost to the Lions 20-19 in 2012 and 27-20 last year. The Aggies have not beaten Langston since 2004; however, their hunger for a victory could not be greater, coming off six straight wins on the season.

Overall, the Aggies' current record against Langston is 21-23-1; the Aggies also beat Langston in the All-States Bowl in 1961. This Saturday, the Aggies have a chance to take it to the Lions for the first time in ten years and be the first OPSU football team to win seven games in a row since 1984. The stage is set! It's time for the Aggies to take what is theirs!

The Aggies will enter the game this Saturday with what Coach Gaskamp calls a "two-headed monster." Both running backs Chris McClendon and Rod Moore gained over a hundred yards on the ground last week and have proven to be a hassle for opposing teams.

Chris McClendon shared his expectations for Langston by stating "The Langston game in my eyes is the biggest game of the season. They're a good football team but the only team that can beat us in this game is ourselves. If we come out with a fast tempo and don't turn the ball over, we will win. Rod and I have a very good understanding of each other and trust each other. The coaches know how to use us."

Rod Moore also gave his input. "Langston is a big game for us because we've lost to them the last two years in the 4th quarter and our team goal this year is to go 8-2. Going into the game this weekend, we have to get off to a fast start and not waste time putting up points as an offensive unit. As far as the run game goes, we are going to stick to what we have been doing and run fast, physical, and downhill right at them."

The Aggies have only two games left on the season; both being in close proximity. Aggie Nation is strongly encouraged to come along for the ride and offer extra support for the team as they will make a run for their goal of 8-2 on the season. WEAR RED! GET ROWDY! REV IT UP!
