Aggie Volleyball Celebrates Seniors

Box Score Goodwell, Okla.—The month of November got off to a memorable start as the Oklahoma Panhandle State University volleyball team celebrated and honored its seniors before a Heartland Conference match against St. Mary's University on Saturday in the Oscar Williams Field House.

Five seniors are set to graduate this spring and will look ahead to the next chapter in their life: Terra Madden, Shaina Eddings, Natalya Weber, Kayla Schwartz and Brittany Dubberstein were all rewarded for their continuous dedication with framed jerseys, pictures and gift baskets. Family and friends gathered after the game to celebrate these special student-athletes.

Senior day had the team pumped up as the match started with an excellent execution of a perfect pass, perfect set and perfect hit by the Aggies for the first point. Both teams were determined as the lead passed back and forth and some good rallies took place. SMU slowly slipped ahead and took the first set 25-20. The Aggies refused to give up and continued to fight, but SMU took the next two sets 25-16 and 25-9 winning the match in three.

With family in the stands, Natalya Weber and Shaina Eddings played great and were the top offensive players leading in both kills and points for the match; Weber totaled six kills and eight points while Eddings contributed eight kills and nine points.  Terra Madden led the game offering 18 of the Aggies' 26 total assists. On the defensive side Nicole Fournier led her team with eight of the 32 total digs.

The Aggies are scheduled to host a tri-match on Tuesday, Nov. 4 with Newman University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The first match will begin at 4 p.m. with OPSU playing Newman University; at 6 p.m. Newman and NWOSU will play and the Aggies will take the court again at 8 p.m. against NWOSU. Aggie fans are invited to come out and support the team for their final home games of the 2014 season.
