Aggies Close Home Season with Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Goodwell, Okla.—The Aggie volleyball team hosted a tri-match Tuesday, Nov. 5 with Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Newman University. The tri-match wrapped up the Aggies' home games for the season.

The evening began with a Heartland Conference match between the Aggies and Lady Jets of Newman. Both teams were tough defensively and were determined to keep the ball off the floor. Newman University had a match total of 47 digs and OPSU was close behind with 43. The vast majority of these digs came from Megan Archuleta with 15. Dejiana Rubio and Julia Ibarra also contributed to the total with six each. On the offensive side Shaina Eddings was the leader with eight of the team's total 23 kills. Rubio, Tayler Burzette, and Terra Madden had a combined ten to add to the kill total. The Aggies improved each set but ended with a loss in three: 12-25, 17-25 and 19-25.

NWOSU also proved a tough opponent after taking game two to four sets against Newman. The Rangers took the Aggies in three sets: 25-7, 25-16 and 25-19, with the Aggies again showing improvement and determination throughout the match. Eddings continued to lead her team in kills having six of the 15 total: Krista Dawkins, Rubio and Burzette added to the total with two kills each. There was a total of 38 digs lead by Archuleta and Rubio with eight a piece and Nicole Fournier contributed six.

As the volleyball season is coming to an end OPSU has had a total of 559 kills, 531 assists, 88 serving aces and an outstanding 992 digs. The Aggies have one more match on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Hobbs, N.M. Aggie fans are encouraged to cheer the Aggies on as they push to reach 1000 digs for the season.
