Box Score Claremore, Okla.—The OPSU men's basketball team was on the road Thursday against Rogers State University, who is sitting fourth in the conference with a 15-9 overall record and 10-6 in Heartland Conference play.
The Aggies and the Hillcats were neck and neck the entire first half with the Aggies trailing by two going into the break 41-39.
Senior Point Guard Z. Jones had a good half going 5-9 shooting, including two three-pointers to give him 16 points at the break.
Krys Randolph also had a good half contributing nine points.
Deran Banton had a great half for Rogers State going 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three-point land to give him 22 points going into half time.
In the second half the Aggies saw the game starting to slip away from them with a little under 15 minutes remaining and the Hillcat lead going up to 12 point (60-48). With a little under 10 minutes on the clock, the lead was up to 20 for Rogers State.
The final score was 93-78 in favor of the Hillcats. Z Jones led all Aggie scorers with 20 points, followed by
Bill Lee with 14, and
Jeremy Newton with 13 points.
For Rogers State Deran Banton led in scoring with 34 points followed by Damion Hooks with 18 points, and Robinson Odoch-Opong who finished with 16 points.
Aggies' Head Coach
Jerry Olson was proud of the teams' effort saying, "We never give up. We just had too many turnovers that led to easy points."
The loss drops the Aggies to 2-22 (2-13) and Rogers State improves to 16-9 (11-6) with the win. The Aggies play again Saturday in Fort Smith, Arkansas against the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
