UAFS Too Much for the Aggie Women

Box Score Fort Smith, Ark.—Saturday afternoon the Aggie women took on the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lady Lions in Fort Smith Arkansas. UAFS came into the game with an 8-17 record, as the Aggies came in sitting 1-24. 
 
Fort Smith took the lead from the tip and the Aggies hung within one point of the lead through the 15-minute mark. Unable to get anything going, the Aggie women fell behind 30-9 with eight minutes still reaming in the first half. Fort Smith continued to stay hot, taking a 49-14 lead going into halftime. 
 
The second half was the same story. The Aggies fell behind 59-14 with 15 minutes still left to play in the game. The Aggies never recovered from the big deficit, and lost the game by a score of 87-37. 
 
For the Aggies, senior Sarah Johnson led in scoring with 14 points; the next leading scorer for the Aggies was Brittany Alavinejad with seven. Sharice Papaleo led in rebounds for the Aggies with nine. Fort Smith's Candice Followwell led her team in scoring with 16 points, and Michelle Lumsargis was next leading scorer with 12. 
 
The Aggies are at home one more time before the conference tournament starts; Saturday March, 1 versus Oklahoma Christian. Seniors will be recognized prior to the game with tip-off set for 1 p.m.
