Aggie Women Topped by Hilltoppers

Box Score Goodwell, Okla.—The OPSU Aggie women took a 19-point loss on their home court to St. Edward's University Saturday afternoon; the Hilltoppers went home with an 82-63 win under their belt.

The Aggies kept up with the 2-16 St. Ed's team going up by one at the 11:40 mark of the first half (15-14); but the Hilltoppers turned up the heat and went on a 13-0 scoring run over the next three minutes and went into the break with a 33-26 lead over the Aggies.

At halftime two Aggies held the game-highs in scoring: Sarah Johnson and Sharice Papaleo with eight and nine points respectively. St. Ed's Kathleen Brisbane was leading the game in rebounds with nine.

In the opening minutes of the second half the Aggies came within five points of the lead; but they would come no closer as the Hilltoppers pulled away quickly and kept a healthy distance for the remainder of the game, taking the win back to Austin. Johnson led in scoring for the second half with 16 points and Papaleo and St. Ed's Erika Rousculp led in rebounds with six apiece.

Papaleo added another double-double to her record, scoring a total of 17 points and 10 rebounds for the game. Johnson led all scorers racking p 24 points and also led in steals with a game-high seven. Freshman guard Elida Bonilla was third in scoring for the Aggies shooting 100 percent for the game.

The Aggie women drop to 1-21 overall and 1-14 in the Heartland Conference. Their next home game will be against Newman University on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m.; OPSU will celebrate Spring Homecoming during Saturday's games.
