Box Score 3 Goodwell, Okla.—Over the course of the weekend the Aggie baseball team played a three-game conference series against Newman University, with the Jets taking all three wins back to Wichita.
OPSU's
Spencer Long was the starting pitcher for game one, lasting six innings with ten hits and six earned runs; Long dished five strikeouts during his time on the mound.
Dylan Chavez came in for one inning allowing just one hit and zero runs.
The Aggies scored the first run of the day in the second inning of game one as
Ruben Aguirre singled to second base bringing in
Robert Montoya. The Jets took over from that point on scoring three runs in the third, one in the fourth and three in the seventh to take the 7-1 road win over the Aggies.
John Branum got the game one win for Newman; Branum pitched the full seven innings and allowed six hits and one run (unearned). He tossed six strikeouts for the game.
Newman's Mitchell Beaudreau and Ricky Sanchez each brought in two RBI in game one, along with Tyler Bugner and Jordan Ollenberger who each brought in one RBI for the Jets.
In game two the Aggies lost by a score of 3-0.
Walker Rainwater got the start for OPSU and had a very good game on the mound, going 8.1 innings and giving up just two hits; he tossed one strikeout against the Jets.
Josh Casillas came in for relief and pitched 1.2 innings, giving up three runs.
Cody Frederickson started for Newman, and also had a good game pitching; Frederickson went 7.2 innings and threw seven strikeouts. Brandon Roberts came in to relieve and he pitched 2.1 innings, giving up no runs, and tossing one strikeout.
Jarrod Flax knocked in two runs for Newman on 1-4 batting, and Tyler Bugner also knocked in an RBI with a 2-4 batting performance.
The Aggies totaled five hits in game two, all singles by
Payton Osbon, Sam Moreno,
Lucas Ogaz,
Nick Crosswhite and senior
Ethan Moffitt.
The Aggies took another 3-0 loss in Saturday's game three. However, each team had a good day on the mound. Newman's starting pitcher, Zak Mickens went eight innings, giving up zero runs and throwing eight strikeouts; while OPSU's Zach Tingen pitched seven innings and gave up just three runs.
Ricky Sanchez hit in two of the Newman's three runs going 2-5 at the plate and Mitchell Beaudreau knocked in the third, going 1-3 at the plate.

The Aggies will wrap up the regular season this week with a conference series against Oklahoma Christian May 2-3. Friday's double-header will begin at 1 p.m. with game three taking place Saturday, also at 1 p.m. Three seniors will be recognized prior to Saturday's first pitch.
