Volleyball is in the Air

Goodwell,Okla. –The OPSU Aggies are ready to show off their skill and hard work as they kick off the 2014 season with the fourth annual Aggies' Challenge Tournament Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Aggies will play their first official match in the Oscar Williams Field House on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. against the number one-ranked Heartland opponent University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. "Opening with UAFS is a big challenge, but we're up for it," states OPSU head coach Mike Stephens.

The tournament then begins Friday at 10 a.m. as the Aggies go up against the University of the Southwest. Southwestern Christian has a Noon match-up against St. Gregory's and OPSU will take the court again at 2 p.m. on Friday with a match against Southwestern Christian; St. Gregory's will finish the day's play by taking on the University of the Southwest at 4 p.m.

Saturday's games begin at 9 a.m. with a match between Southwestern Christian and the University of the Southwest. OPSU will compete in a Heartland Conference match at Noon against Dallas Baptist and the tournament will resume at 2 p.m. as the Aggies take on St. Gregory's. A consolation match between the third and fourth seeds will take place at 4 p.m. followed by the championship match at 6 p.m. to conclude the tournament.

Stephens and his team are anxious to have matches start. He adds, "The team has been working extremely hard. It's gratifying to see them come together. The lack of ego makes this a special group of athletes."

Aggie fans can purchase a weekend pass for all tournament games for $8.00 or daily passes for $5.00 per day and OPSU students, faculty, and staff get in free. Show your school spirit and come cheer for the Aggies as they fight for the tournament title!
