Box Score Tyler, Texas—On September 27, 2014, the OPSU Aggie football team handed the Texas College Steers their fourth loss of the season and reached an even record of 2-2. The Aggies stormed into Rose Stadium and outplayed the Steers on their own turf once again, defeating them 70-27.

From the get go, the Aggies had the Steers by the horns and showed their dominance in all three phases of the game. Running back Chris McClendon struck first for the Aggies with a 29-yard rush for a touchdown. After a slim TC possession, quarterback Caleb Holbrook threw his first touchdown to Zacari Lavender for 34 yards to put the Aggies on top 14-0. To close out the first quarter, wide receiver Jamal White returned a blocked punt for a touchdown from 25 yards out.

The Aggies did not take long to add to their lead as Holbrook took off on foot for a 22-yard score, increasing the lead to 28-0. Thanks to a relentless Aggie defense and a forced fumble by Deidrick Bushnell later in the quarter, the Aggies were able to capitalize on the turnover and some short field advantage by scoring on a 3-yard run from Rod Moore. The Aggie defense continued to disrupt the Steer offense with two consecutive interceptions by both Xazier Murry and Dominique Johnson that led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Dominique Johnson to make the score 42-0 at the half.

The troubles for TC continued as Holbrook opened the second half with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jamal White, making it 49-0. Quarterback Phillip Callier would shed some light for the Steers with a 7-yard run to get his team on the board; however, the Aggies fired right back with an 12-yard pass from Holbrook to Deandre Perry which made the score 56-7.

The Steers went on a ten point run after a field goal and a 36-yard rush by Callier for a touchdown, but the Aggies kept their distance with a 29-yard touchdown rush by James Cameron to make the score 63-17. The Steers managed to find the end zone one last time with a 25-yard pass from Callier to Ja'Marius Allen, but once again, the Aggies answered with a huge 53-yard touchdown run by Rod Moore. After a TC field goal in the late minutes of the game, the Aggies closed with a 70-27 victory.

The Aggies threw for 177 yards from the arm of Holbrook and mustered an impressive 392 yards on the ground with their multiple backfield threat for a combined total of 569 yards on offense. Defensively, the Aggie "Darkside" crushed the Texas College offense for nine sacks and four take aways.

Coming off two solid wins, Coach Russell Gaskamp shared his excitement. "Very proud of the way we traveled. Took the trip with a business-like attitude and I knew we would play well. Really happy that we scored in all three phases with the blocked punt and the interception returned for a touchdown. We ran the football very physically and Chris, Rod, and James made some outstanding plays in the backfield. We are starting to shape into mid-season form. I think we will be an exciting football team to follow this year and can't wait to play for our fans this upcoming weekend versus Sul Ross State. I especially want to thank our fans that came to Tyler to root us on, it was great to reward them with 'Hail the Aggie Crew' at the end of the game."

The Aggies will play the Sul Ross State University Lobos for the Homecoming game sponsored by Tri-County Electric Saturday, Oct. 4; kick-off is set for 1 p.m. at Carl Wooten Field. Aggie fans are invited to come early, wear read, get rowdy and REV IT UP!
