Volleyball Competes in Texas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Goodwell, Okla. –The OPSU Aggie Volleyball team traveled a long distance to compete against two Texas teams from the Heartland Conference this week.

On Friday, Sept. 26 the Aggies played St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. The Rattlers proved to be tough competition besting the Aggies in three sets 25-10, 25-16 and 25-12. The Aggies had a total of 31 digs lead by Megan Archuleta with nine and Dejiana Rubio and Julia Ibarra contributing with six each. Shaina Eddings and Rubio each and five kills to add to the team total of 19.

The Aggies then traveled to Laredo, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 27 for a match against Texas A&M International University. It was a competitive match, but it ended with the TAMIU Dustdevils winning 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-17. Defense was the Aggies strong point as they totaled a fantastic 63 digs. Archuleta led with 20 digs and Ibarra and Rubio each contributed with 13 and 12 respectively. Terra Madden had 17 of the 22 assists which lead to a team total of 23 kills; Eddings once again showed her determination by leading the Aggies with 11 kills.

The OPSU volleyball team will travel to Wichita, Kan. for another Heartland match against Newman University on Sept. 30. They return for home game on Thursday, Oct. 2 against the University of Arkansas at Monticello; first serve is set for 7 p.m.
