Box Score 2 Lubbock, Texas—In their second meeting of the season the Aggies were outmatched on the court Thursday evening as both the women's and men's basketball teams fell to Lubbock Christian University.
In a battle against the top-ranked team in the Heartland Conference, the Aggie women took an 87-51 loss to the Lady Chaps. The score at halftime was 48-23 with LCU averaging 56 percent from the field, landing 6-8 from three-point range and a perfect 6-6 from the line in the opening half. The Aggies had a tough time converting shots in the second half going 10-38 from the field; they finished the game with an overall shooting average of 32 percent.

Charles Terry feels his kids did their best to compete against a really good opponent saying, "We were just out-manned for the most part. We're playing better and just need to get over the hump."

Kiera Waters did their parts to contribute totaling twelve points each to lead the Aggies in scoring for the game. Tatum was also the team-leader in rebounds with six, while Waters led the game in steals with three. LCU's Allison Szabo fell just shy of a double-double as the game leader in points with 14 as well as rebounds with nine. OPSU's women hold a season record of 2-18 and are still on the hunt for their first win in the Heartland.
The Aggie men were up against an LCU team that currently sits in a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings; the Aggies were bested 84-59 in Thursday's match-up. The Chaps played a consistent game throughout averaging 54 percent from the field, 44 percent beyond the arc, and 78 percent from the line. Shooting at 35 percent on the game, the Aggies landed 8-24 long-distance shots and went 15-22 from the line (68 percent). LCU outscored the Aggies in the paint 40-18 and took 20 points from turnovers to the Aggies' twelve.
Chaps' guard Ridrell Holman led the game in scoring and rebounds totaling 17 points and nine boards.
Antonio Manns, Jr. led the Aggies in scoring with 16 points as well as rebounds with six.
John Lazenby sank four threes for the bulk of his 14 points, and
Marquavius Williams went 6-8 from the line to help total ten points for the Aggies. The Aggies now own a 3-16 overall record with one conference win.
The Aggie men continue their road tour as they head to Dallas, Texas to take on Dallas Baptist University in a Heartland Conference match Monday, Feb. 2; tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Both Aggie teams will be back on their home court for two Pink-Out games against Newman University Thursday, Feb. 5 starting at 5:30 p.m. The Aggies will also celebrate Winter Homecoming on Saturday, Feb. 7 with two games against Oklahoma Christian; the women tip-off at 1 p.m. followed by the men at 3 p.m.
