Heartland Conference play continues this week as the Aggies take their show on the road to Oklahoma City and Wichita.
Goodwell, Okla.—The OPSU men's and women's basketball teams will continue conference play on the road this week as they head out for two Heartland match-ups.
First stop Oklahoma City as both teams compete against Oklahoma Christian University on Thursday, Jan. 8. The ladies will start things off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow after at 7:30 p.m. The Aggies will look for their first conference wins of the season over two Eagle teams who have yet to claim Heartland victories themselves.
Saturday, Jan. 10 the Aggies will roll into Wichita, Kan. to take on Newman University. The Newman men currently hold a 1-3 conference record while the Lady Jets sit 0-4. Games begin at 1 p.m. with the women followed by the men who will take the court at approximately 3 p.m.
The Aggie women are currently 2-10 overall and sit seventh in the conference ranks. Three Aggie ladies are ranked in the top ten in the conference individually:
Kiera Waters is currently eighth in scoring averaging 14.1 points per game,
Tatyana Bell also sits eighth for rebounding with 6.9 per game, and
Hannah Tatum ranks ninth in field goal percentage at .472.
Sitting tenth in the conference the Aggie men hold an overall record of 2-9 but rank fifth as a team in scoring offense and free throw percentage.
Antonio Manns, Jr. currently leads all scorers with an average of 23.2 points per game, and teammate
Marquavius Williams ranks fourth in assists contributing 4.2 per game on average.
