No. 4 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs Take Win Over Aggies

Box Score Goodwell, Okla.—The OPSU women's basketball team dropped to 0-6 on the season after a tough loss Wednesday evening against a top-ranked Lone Star Conference opponent. The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs put up a 25-point victory to remain undefeated.

A sluggish first half sent the Aggies to the locker room down 17-36 after two periods of play. West Texas totaled 11 points off eight steals in the first half and out-rebounded OPSU 26-17.

Halftime adjustments brought improvement to the Aggies' shooting as they went 4-7 from three-point range and averaged 44 percent in shooting in the second half; the Aggies' first half average was 24 percent from the field. OPSU held the Lady Buffs to a season-low of 37.7 percent shooting for the game and outscored WT in the fourth period 17-16; but the Aggies were unable to overcome the first half deficit and fell 49-74 in the end.

The night's leading scorer was Sade Tutson who put up a game-high of 16 points for the Aggies against the fourth-ranked team in Division-II women's basketball. Tutson was a perfect 1-1 from beyond the arc and shot 100 percent from the line going 3-3. WT's Maddison Wild led the Lady Buffs with 13 points followed by Madison Parker who earned a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Junior forward Hannah Whitaker led the Aggies at the boards with nine total rebounds along with Charron Johnson who finished with eight. Johnson also contributed two blocks and two steals for the night. Guard Kietta Saunders shared the game-high of five assists with Sasha Watson from WT.

The Aggies will return to their home court Saturday, Dec. 5 for the final home game of the fall as they take on Northern New Mexico College at 5 p.m. Fans are reminded that Saturday is also the final day for the Aggies CAN Make a Difference food drive. Each non-perishable food item donated will enter fans into a drawing to win a personalized OPSU basketball jersey and signed Aggie basketball; the drawing will take place at halftime of the men's game on Saturday which tips off at 7 p.m.
