Season Ends on the Road for Aggie Basketball

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 San Antonio, Texas—In the final games of the 2014-2015 regular season, the OPSU basketball teams were defeated by St. Mary's University Saturday afternoon; the Aggie women fell 51-78 and the men took a 58-95 loss against the Rattlers.

The women were up against a 15-10 Lady Rattlers team and forward Morgan Pullins, ranked first in the Heartland Conference for both scoring and rebounds. Pullins earned a double-double in Saturday's match-up with game-highs of 26 points and 15 rebounds. The Aggies were held to 32 percent shooting from the field and 24 total rebounds. Kiera Waters and Tatyana Bell led the Aggies in points with 12 and 10 respectively; Bell shot a perfect 6-6 from the line and led the team in rebounds with four. Pullins also led the game with six steals, and Dezirae Elias contributed a game-high of seven assists for the Rattlers.

Coach Terry felt his team "played hard but just couldn't bring it home in the end. I couldn't be happier with our seniors, Hannah Tatum and Jaclyn Becker; they are two of the best players I have coached."

St. Mary's men clinched the regular season title for the Heartland Conference with the win over OPSU, going 15-5 in conference play. Both teams shot well in the first half with SMU averaging 69 percent and the Aggies shooting at 52 percent. Antonio Manns, Jr. still managed to put up a game-high in scoring totaling 19 points against the top-ranked Rattlers. Manns also led the team in rebounds with four, while SMU's Kriston Minor earned the game-high with six boards. For the game the Aggies averaged 39 percent from the field and the Rattlers shot at 58 percent.

Aggie men's coach Jerry Olson was proud of this team saying, "I thought we played very hard and appreciated the effort the guys gave. St. Mary's is very good and played extremely well." Olson felt Manns played well again, but sat him the final 11 minutes to allow others to take the court.

Both Aggie teams finished 3-25 on the season and 1-19 in conference play. The Heartland Conference selects All-Conference teams this week and more post-season information will be released once it is available.
