Box Score 3 San Antonio, Texas—Panhandle State Volleyball added a win to their record last week with a 3-2 victory over Jarvis Christian College on Thursday in Hawkins, Texas.
Although the Aggies took two Heartland Conference losses on Friday and Saturday to Dallas Baptist and St. Edward's, the team got off to a great start fighting for a five-set win over Jarvis. With wins in sets two, three and five the Aggies notched a third win for the season on Thursday evening; scores for the match were as follows 25-20, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19, and 15-13. Freshman
Kendra Butler led Panhandle hitters with 15 kills on 30 attacks; senior
Bristen Graves put in a solid performance against the Bulldogs totaling 10 kills on the night. Butler and Graves also sent over one ace apiece and combined for six of the Aggies' eight team blocks. Kayln Moore held a game-high of six service aces to help the Aggies take the win.
In Friday's Heartland matchup in Dallas the Aggies took a 3-0 loss to DBU with scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-15. Butler once again led the Aggies in kills with a team-high of eight and a hitting percentage of .467. Madeline Dolberry held the game-high with ten total kills for the Patriots. The Aggies were overpowered on the serve as DBU fired off seven service aces while Panhandle only managed one for the match.
Saturday afternoon saw the Aggies compete in Austin in a four-set conference match with St. Edward's. The Hilltoppers came out with the home-court win giving up the third set 29-27 to Panhandle State; SEU notched their seventh victory in sets one, two and four by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11. The Aggies now own a 3-16 record on the season and will look for their first Heartland victory as they continue conference play at home on Oct. 19 with a Pink Out match against Lubbock Christian. This week the Aggies will compete in a tri-match hosted by Fort Hays State in Kansas on Tuesday, Oct. 11; Panhandle Volleyball will take on FHSU at 3 p.m. followed by a matchup with NWOSU at 5 p.m.
