Box Score 3 Oklahoma City—Oklahoma Christian improved to an 8-7 record within the Heartland Conference after sweeping their three-game series with Panhandle State over the weekend. The Aggies fell by scores of 7-0, 6-3 and 11-1 in the road games.
Senior
Samuel Beattie took the shutout loss in game one, working five innings against the Eagles who put up 12 hits and six runs (five earned) on the left-handed pitcher. Beattie served five strikeouts during his stint before being relieved by
Logan Litton in the sixth. The Aggies managed just three hits in the seven-inning contest, with Brendon O'Flynn,
Chris Schraer and
Tiler Fletcher each getting singles in the game.
In game two on Friday the Aggies tied things up at 2-2 in the fourth inning as
Dehryen Noriega reached base on an error by the catcher, and was sent home on a two-run homer by Robert Rodriguez. The Eagles went on to score one run each in the following four innings, while the Aggies added only one more run in the eighth, an RBI single by
Nate Kelly. Pitcher
Adrian Lopez held the loss in game two with
Tristan Hubler coming in at relief. Lopez lasted 5.1 innings with five hits and five runs to his name; Hubler gave up three hits and one earned run over his 2.2 innings stretch.
Josh Casillas got the start in game three on Saturday and saw 4.2 innings on the mound; the senior was replaced by
Jonny Mireles after allowing five hits and five earned runs on this watch.
Jeremy Norris,
Hunter Hand and
Corey Ley also left the bullpen for short stints on the bump. Panhandle batters got seven hits off on OC, with O'Flynn going three of four at the plate, including the leadoff double that put him on base in the sixth. O'Flynn would score the Aggies' only run that inning, advancing to third on a wild pitch and scoring on a stolen base attempt by Kelly.
With the losses, the Aggies now hold a 8-29 record on the season with one win in the league. Panhandle State baseball will be back on their home field this week as they host Lubbock Christian in a Heartland Conference series April 13-14. Thursday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. with game three starting Friday at Noon.
