Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Goodwell, Okla.—Panhandle State Softball concluded their Sooner Athletic Conference series with their second meeting against No. 7-ranked Oklahoma City University on Tuesday at Aggie Field. The two teams met previously in OKC where the Aggies were only able to muster one run over the two-game stretch (7-1, 8-0). Tuesday's performance left the Aggies winless once again (11-0, 10-0), as the Stars outshined Panhandle at the plate 23-6 in hits over the ten-inning session.

OCU's Georgia Wall held Aggie batters hitless through the first three innings of play, retiring every Aggie she faced until freshman Kayli Grove snuck a single over third base with two down in the fourth. Grove was left stranded as the third ground-out of the inning came on the next at bat. Senior third baseman Jackie Sanchez struck up a lead-off single in the fifth for the Aggies second hit of the day; Sanchez was put out on a double play during the following plate appearance.

The Stars brought in three runs in the first inning, one in the second and seven in the third, leaving Panhandle's starting pitcher Julia Ibarra with a loss on her record (10-7). Ibarra pitched the entire five-inning stretch, allowing eight hits and eight earned runs. The Aggie defense stepped up in the last two innings to leave the Stars scoreless through four and five; starting third baseman Jaylinn Reyes switched to shortstop and made the play on the first four batters that hit into her territory. The Aggies committed five errors over the first three innings of game one to prompt several shifts in the field.

Starting hot at the plate in game two, the Stars gathered five runs on Panhandle pitcher Emily Worley in her first inning of work. The Aggies looked to face a better session at the plate as Brooklyne Bolton and Brileigh Murphree hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the first inning; both runners were left on base and the Aggies entered the second down 5-0. Junior Lindsay Jacobs came in to pitch for Worley in the second inning, and gave up zero runs through innings two and three. Jacobs was the third Aggie to reach base in game two, with a single in the second; and Panhandle's fourth and last hit of the day would come off the bat of Jewell Lee with a single in the bottom of the third. Oklahoma City finished off the Aggies with six hits for five runs in the fourth inning, including a three-run triple. An empty fifth inning left Worley holding the 10-0 shutout loss. On the day, the Stars collected 23 hits with extra bases on six doubles, one triple and one home run; the Aggies totaled six hits, all singles.

Panhandle State softball now owns a 12-17 record on the season and sit 5-7 within Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Aggies continue their conference stretch this week with a four-game road series against No. 3 University of Science and Arts-Oklahoma in Chickasha March 23-24. Friday's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. with Saturday's series finale starting at Noon. The team returns to Goodwell to face Texas Wesleyan on their home field March 28-29.
